The Prospect Missionary Baptist Church, now known as "Prospect Church", was founded in 1966 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma by two distinguished Ministers in the Oklahoma City area, Reverend J.D. Provo and Reverend E.R. Neal along with 23 charter members. Rev. A.D. Provo was subsequently called to pastor the Prospect Missionary Baptist Church that same year. During those days, worship services were held in the homes of members and later in the Tenth Street Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Prospect Church has since grown to over 750 members and is led by Rev. Dr. Lee E. Cooper, Jr., Senior Pastor, since 1987. Pastor Cooper is a native of Oklahoma City, having earned his undergraduate degree from Bishop College, Master of Divinity degree from the Virginia Union University, School of Theology of Richmond, VA and Doctor of Humane Letters at Virginia University of Lynchburg, VA. Under Pastor Cooper's inspiring leaderhip and vision as planted by God, the Prospect Church has successfully launched numerous ministries and programs aimed at maximizing the teaching and sharing of God's Word, resulting in the spiritual development of this congregation and the communities being served by the Prospect Church.
The Prospect ministry and it's mission is best described as a loving and caring fellowship, seeking to enhance the spiritual, mental, physical and economic well-being of our members and the communities we serve through the sharing of God's Word. In doing so, our various ministries and programs are designed to deliver a genuine and meaningful experience for everyone of our members, visitors and friends.
